Meet the Team: Parikshit Misra, Senior Software Engineer at Parspec

At Parspec, our software engineers play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the software that powers Parspec. They’re relentlessly building and optimizing the tools that help lighting businesses streamline their submittals and see major upsides for their businesses.

Today, we’re excited to introduce you to one of our talented senior software engineers: Parikshit Misra. Drawn to Parspec by the opportunity to build something new and exciting, he’s deeply invested in our vision to solve pressing problems in the AEC industry.

We feel privileged to have people like Parikshit on our team. You can check out highlights from his spotlight below!

What is your role at Parspec?

I am a Senior Software Engineer at Parspec. My main responsibility is to develop and maintain the software that powers our app. I work closely with the Product team to identify customer needs and create solutions that meet those needs. As part of my job, I also help design and architect the software and collaborate with other engineers to develop it.

Why did you join Parspec?

I joined Parspec because I was looking for an opportunity to work on something new and exciting. Having previously worked at established companies, I was eager to experience building something from the ground up. When I learned about Parspec’s vision for solving a problem in the construction industry, I was convinced that this was the challenge I was looking for. The team that Parspec was building also impressed me, and I felt confident that we could work together to achieve our goals.

How do you see Parspec impacting the AEC industry? Society in general?

Parspec is bringing a new approach to the AEC industry by leveraging the latest developments in automation and machine learning from the software industry. By applying these learnings to the AEC industry, Parspec aims to make construction processes more efficient and help professionals deliver greater value faster. This approach is unprecedented in the AEC industry and has the potential to revolutionize how products are designed and procured.

What challenges are you looking forward to trying to solve?

One challenge I am looking forward to solving is improving the performance and user experience of Parspec’s app. Our goal is to make the app so fast and seamless that our customers don’t have to think about it. We want the app to feel seamlessly integrated into their workflow so that they can be more productive in their work.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

My addiction to caffeine. I can’t function without my daily dose of coffee. It’s the only thing that keeps me awake and alert. If you want to give me a gift, give me a coffee mug that says “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee.”

What sparked your interest in the technology industry?

I was inclined towards technology from an early age. I used to salvage parts from old toys and use them to build new ones. So working in this industry felt like a natural progression.

What do you see as the most exciting trends or developments in engineering right now?

I think the rapid advancements in AI and NLP (Natural Language Processing) are very exciting, if also a bit scary. Apart from those, I’m excited about the move toward defining infrastructure using code, using tools like Terraform.

Are there any recent projects or initiatives at Parspec that you’re particularly excited about, and why?

I’m looking forward to the upcoming features around product recommendations and attribute-based searches. It looks like a good challenge and will definitely prove valuable for our customers.

If you were not working at Parspec, where would you be?

I would likely be working at a company in the networking industry, developing software that forms the backbone of networks in data centers and the internet in general.

What is your favorite food?

Definitely pizza. You’ll find me having either pepperoni or chicken and pineapple pizza.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I play video games every weekend, watch a couple of films on Netflix, and try to finish my backlog of sci-fi novels.

Anything else?

I’m proud of what the team at Parspec has achieved in such a short time, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.
